Madame Tussauds wax museum bounces back in India

<p>
<strong>The world renowned Madame Tussauds wax museum has staged a comeback in India, as it has now opened in DLF Mall of India located in Noida. The first time it was launched was in November 2017 at Regal Building in New Delhi which was closed in December 2020 in the wake of Covid pandemic.</strong></p>
<p>
Spread over an area of 16,000 sq. feet the museum located on the 4th floor of the Mall showcases 50 wax figures. The figures are a mix of famous national as well as international figures from the world of politics, sports and entertainment.</p>

Among the star attractions in the museum are figures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former President APJ Abdul Kalam, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bhagat Singh and Subhas Chandra Bose.</p>
<p>
In another section are housed sporting legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, MC Mary Kom and Virat Kohli, who share the space with Usain Bolt, Messi and Ronaldo.</p>

With movies and film stars occupying a special place in India, the museum has figures of Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Madhuri Dixit. Among the Hollywood stars are Angelina Jolie, Leonardo di Caprio and Will Smith.</p>
<p>
The music section boasts figures of singing legends like Asha Bhosle, Shreya Ghosal, Sonu Nigam, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber along with Zakir Hussain, the legendary table player.</p>

The Director and General Manager of Merlin Entertainments India Pvt Ltd, the holding company for Madame Tussauds in India, informed the media: “The attraction will provide the Indian audience with an immersive glimpse into the glamorous world of well-known celebrities and personalities. We have emphasised on Indian superstars, knowing that both residents and visitors will enjoy meeting these icons who have made a difference in their lives in many ways.”</p>
<p>
Sharing details about how the wax figures are created, Jain informed that it is an effort of more than 20 international artists and it takes up to six months. “All figures are first made in London studios, assembled there, and the personality’s final approval is taken on the basis of pictures or personal visit. Figures are then sent to respective Madame Tussauds outlets. The figures are assembled again by the local team and a final touch up is given.”</p>
<p>
Entry tickets are available at the counter and online. It is Rs. 960 for adults and Rs. 760 for children.</p>
<p>
Madame Tussauds museums are present in 23 locations around the world including London, New York, Sydney and Shanghai.</p>
