IPL 2021: Fans can buy tickets from Thursday

With its 2021 edition resuming in the UAE on Sunday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) today announced sale of match tickets starting Thursday as fans return to the stadiums after the Covid-19 forced hiatus. The 14th season was postponed in May in the wake of the pandemic.

IPL 2021 resumes with the five-time champions and current title holders Mumbai Indians taking on three-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 19.

The encounter will see fans being welcomed back to the stadiums after matches were played in the absence of any crowds owing to the Covid-19 situation, earlier this year.

A total number of 31 matches will be played in the duration of 27 days at Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi with limited seating available keeping in mind the Covid protocols and UAE government regulations.

After the CSK-MI match, the action will shift to Abu Dhabi where the Kolkata Knight Riders will square off against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sharjah will host its first game on September 24 when Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Chennai Super Kings.

In all, 13 matches will be held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and 8 in Abu Dhabi.

There will be 7 double headers (5 matches already played in India – total of 12 matches) with the first match starting at 3:30PM IST (2:00PM Gulf Standard Time). All evening matches will start at 7:30PM IST (6:00PM Gulf Standard Time).

Final game of the league stage will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals on October 8.

The 1st Qualifier will be played in Dubai on October 10. The Eliminator and Qualifier 2 will be played in Sharjah on October 11 and 13, respectively with Dubai hosting the final of IPL 2021 on October 15.

The organisers said today that the fans can buy tickets starting September 16 for the remainder of the tournament on the official website of the tournament.
