India’s Under-19 cricket star is the grandson of an Olympic gold medallist

<p>
All-rounder Raj Angad Bawa who was declared the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance with both the bat and ball as India defeated England to lift the Under 19 World Cup is the grandson of an Olympic gold medallist.</p>
<p>
Tarlochan Singh Bawa, a member of the Indian hockey team that won a gold medal at the 1948 Olympic Games. This was a historic victory on the hockey field as India defeated host nation Britain just a year after having gained independence from the colonial power.</p>
<p>
His grandson Raj Bawa has shot to fame in the international sports arena 74 years later. He became the first Indian cricketer to bag five wickets in an ICC tournament final and backed it up with a sound batting score of 35 off 54 balls as India surpassed the 190-run target set by the hosts with 14 balls to spare and four wickets in hand.</p>
<p>
Raj Bawa also scored the highest number of runs in a match in the tournament smashing an unbeaten 162 off just 108 balls against Uganda. He has emerged as up being India's second highest run-getter in the tournament and the third highest-wicket taker for the team.</p>
