It was an incident that reflects how much people love and respect the Indian Army, who also reciprocate the same feelings. Rahul R. Pillai and Karthika K.S who got married in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on November 10, had invited the Army to attend their wedding by sending an invite to the Army Headquarters in Delhi.
The Army reciprocated warmly and appreciated this gesture by having the couple at the Pangode military station in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday where they were welcomed with a bouquet and felicitated by Brigadier Lalit Sharma, the Station Commander.
The couple are B. Tech graduates and while Rahul is a banker based in Coimbatore, Karthika is an IT professional working at Technopark. The two were presented a memento by Brigadier Sharma during his interaction with them.
Talking to the media, Rahul informed that it was his idea to send the wedding invitation with a handwritten note to the Indian Army while thanking them for their service, determination and patriotism. Revealing that the two had great respect for the Armed Forces, Rahul said that his uncle was in the Army.
Their note mentioned that because of the soldiers they were able to sleep peacefully and get married happily.
The Indian Army on receiving the invite reciprocated warmly and took to the social media congratulated them and wished them well. In a tweet they wrote: “Best Wishes. #IndianArmy conveys sincere thanks to Rahul & Karthika for the Wedding Invite and wishes the couple a very Happy & Blissful Wedded Life. #TogetherForever.”
