Celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – 75th anniversary of Indian independence – the Ministry Environment, Forest and Climate Change has organised Hariyali Mahotsav at New Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium today.

The event is being held to create awareness about the importance of green cover and trees in protecting the environment from global warming and air pollution.

The Mahotsav aims to highlight the crucial role played by trees and forests in maintaining an ecological balance and their contribution to the environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife.

A large number of children from various schools in Delhi participated in the Mahotsav. The event took off with a Nukkad natak on the importance of trees in our lives. It will culminate with a concert by Grammy award winner, Indian music composer and environmentalist, Ricky Kej.

Among those attending the event are Bhupender Yadav, Minister EF&CC; Ashwini Kumar Choubey, EF&CC and other officials of the Ministry.
