Dr Bhagwat Karad, a Union Minister of State for Finance, went back to playing his professional role as a doctor during a medical emergency on board an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Mumbai last night when a passenger started sinking as he was feeling giddy and weak.

The good deed has also earned him praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Retweeting a post by IndiGo airlines, lauding the Union Minister for his timely intervention, the PM tweeted, "A doctor at heart, always! Great gesture by my colleague @DrBhagwatKarad."

The cabin crew immediately called out for a doctor on the flight, and Bhagwat Karad, who is a surgeon by profession, rushed to help and revive the patient using the airline’s emergency medical kit.

The patient was sweating profusely and had low BP so he was administered glucose which revived him.

Appreciating the minister's gesture, IndiGo tweeted : "Our heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation towards MoS for ministering to his duties non-stop! @DrBhagwatKarad your voluntary support for helping out a fellow passenger is ever so inspiring."
