It is rare to see people honour their word. A sterling example of this is a doctor from Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool who has been rendering medical services to the needy and poor while charging them just Re.1 as fee.
Dr. Bhaskar Reddy has been doing this for the past 20 years and he is wedded to this as he had given his word to his mother when she was on her deathbed.
A Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery, Reddy was practising in Delhi. He lost his mother in Delhi who passed away following prolonged illness. He revealed that his mother’s last wish was that he should return to Kurnool and practice medicine to help the needy patients there.
Keeping his word, he went back to Kurnool and started offering medical services to all for Re.1. Today he is busy every day treating patients from morning to evening. He even visits those patients who are unable to reach or come to the clinic.
Besides treating poor people for free, he also provides free medicines to those who are not unable to buy the medicines on their own.
