DMRC to launch e-auto service to provide last mile connectivity for Metro passengers

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will soon launch e-auto service to provide last-mile connectivity for its passengers. Announcing this, the DMRC officials said the first batch of such vehicles will be started from Sector-9 station in Dwarka.

This decision has been taken as the feeder buses running by the corporation are “less viable” due to “underutilisation”.

Addressing the media, the DMRC chief Vikas Kumar said: “The e-auto service would be launched soon, first for Dwarka sub-city. The first batch of 50 e-autos will be launched from Dwarka Sector-9 station, and a total of 136 such autos will serve the sub-city. This is a step to boost last-mile connectivity for metro commuters.”

To facilitate the running of these autos, charging points and other arrangements are being made at the station. These vehicles will be run via a concessionaire.

Besides the 136 autos, another 663 will be gradually introduced in other areas of the Capital.

The DMRC feeder buses would be taken over by the Transport Department of Delhi Government.
