Delhi municipality to document 160 historical monuments in a coffee-table book

With the aim to familiarise people of Delhi with the historical and heritage sites in the Capital, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) will be releasing the second volume of its coffee table book. The book will have information about 160 places of historical importance.</p>
<p>
Sharing details about the book, SDMC’s senior official said the rich collection will include monuments like Kos Minar in National Zoological Park, Purana Quila, enclosure of Nawab Mustafa Khan and Jamaat Khana Mosque located at Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah complex, Netaji Subhas Road’s Durga Bhawan, Mehrauli’s Jogmaya Mandir, and Mehrauli’s Metcalfe’s Folly among others.</p>

He informed the media that these monuments and buildings are a part of people's lives and they do not really know about their significance. The book will attempt to act as a reference for anyone looking to know about these structures.</p>
<p>
The first book “Glorious Heritage” which was launched earlier has pictures and descriptions of 108 heritage sites and now its e-book version has been released on the SDMC official website for a wider reach and access to the public at large.</p>

<p>
A guided tour of historical heritages is also being planned to inform people of the rich legacy of their city. In all SDMC is working to restore and protect 475 notified historical monuments, tombs, memorial etc.</p>
