Delhi Civil Defence volunteers hone skills to tackle bomb blast and fires

<p>
<strong>A 10-day training programme organised by the Directorate of Civil Defence Delhi which commenced from April 1 came to an end yesterday at the Parade Ground of the directorate in Raja Garden, New Delhi. The programme called “Building Resilient Community Through Civil Defence”, focused on developing discipline among the cadre and teaching them life saving skills through first-aid and fire-fighting training and rescuing of casualties from high-rise buildings.</strong></p>
<p>
Vijay Dev, Chief Secretary, Government of National Capital Territory who was the Chief Guest during the closing ceremony on Wednesday reviewed the parade and took the salute. He also awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service to Baljeet Singh Solanki and the President’s Meritorious Service Medals to Pramod Kumar Gupta, Jeetender Kumar Mahto, Hirdesh Kumar Chauhan, Iqbal Singh Jagdeva, and Rajender Kapoor. A newsletter on the activities of the Civil Defence from 2019 to 2022 was also released on the occasion by the Chief Guest.</p>

Dev praised CD volunteers for their excellent work during the Covid-19 pandemic waves.</p>
<p>
Following the march past, CD volunteers in a mock disaster situation displayed rescue operation during a bomb blast. Using different methods like the two-hand, three-hand, four-hand and human crutch etc they rescued victims while also displaying improvised fire-fighting methods.</p>
