Residents of Delhi’s Pushpanjali Farms were in for a shock when they found in their swimming pool a Common Krait snake – one of the big 4 venomous vipers in India. Fearing for their safety, the family without wasting any time contacted the 24-hour helpline of Wildlife SOS for assistance.

On arriving at the scene, the NGO’s Rapid Response Unit found the snake preying on a crow inside the pool. They caught this on the camera and the reptile can be seen coiled up around the bird’s neck!

Allowing the snake to finish its prey, the rescue team with great care removed the krait from the pool and transferred it to a transit facility for temporary observation.

Common Krait is usually found in proximity to water and they feed on other snakes, rodents, frogs, toads, lizards and birds. Wanting to move to cooler places or looking for easily available prey, these creatures find their way into houses, leading to conflict with humans.

Kartick Satyanarayan, Wildlife SOS CEO thanked the “concerned residents who alerted Wildlife SOS and showed compassion towards the reptile.”
