Boxer Satish Kumar put up a valiant effort against against Uzebkistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov in the quarter finals of the super heavy weight category, but could not get past the reigning world and Asian champion.
Satish showed a lot of heart and guts but the Uzbek giant used his reach and height difference to advantage to emerge as the winner.
This was the 32-year-old Indian boxer’s first Olympic outing and he was also the country’s first ever entrant in the men’s super heavy category (91+ kg).
Meanwhile, world champion PV Sindhu will be looking to extend India's medal tally at the Tokyo Games 2020 on Day 10 of the Games while the Indian men's hockey team will take on Great Britain in the quarterfinals.
