In a shocking accident, a speeding car ploughed through a group of pedestrians on a road in Bengaluru killing one of them and injuring three others on Friday morning.
The tragic incident has been captured on CCTV footage.
The driver of the Maruti Ignis car involved in the accident has been identified as Mukesh, a resident of Chennenahalli of Magadi Road. He is an assistant director in Sandalwood.
Mukesh lost control of the vehicle as he was speeding through the market area.
The deceased has been identified as Rudrappa, 28, a native of Shivamogga. He was working in the catering sector. The injured are his colleagues Shivaram, 23, and Sachin, 21. Shailendra, the third person who was Injured is a BSc student.
Rudrappa was rushed to a nearby private hospital where he didn’t respond to treatment and breathed his last.
Traffic police said the car was owned by Thimmaiah who was also seated in the vehicle along with Mukesh when the accident took place.
The victims were walking on the road as cars were parked on the pavement.
B R Ravikanthe Gowda, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic ) said they have been clearing vehicles parked on footpaths to make way for pedestrians. But this has to be done jointly with the municipal authorities.
