Bank of Baroda which had put up for sale Gadar 2 actor Sunny Deol’s bungalow in Mumbai’s prime Juhu locality to recover a Rs 56 crore loan has now withdrawn its e-auction notice.
In an updated statement issued on Monday, the bank cited “technical reasons” for the withdrawal of the e-auction notice.
“Corrigendum to e-auction sale notice dated 19.08.2023 published in The Times of India Mumbai edition dated 20.08.2023 with regards to sale notice in respect of Mr. Ajay Sing Deol Alias Mr. Sunny Deol stands withdrawn due to technical reasons,” the statement reads.
Earlier, the state-owned bank had put Gadar 2 actor Sunny Deol’s Mumbai property on e-auction for failing to pay back a loan of about Rs 56 crore and interest on that.
The 600 sq metres Sunny Villa on Gandhigram Road in Juhu was announced at a time when the Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 has turned out to be a box office hit with big money flowing in. Market analysts said that the actor is in a stronger financial position to settle the loan issue with the bank.
On its second Sunday after release, ‘Gadar 2’ earned a whopping Rs 41 crore in India taking the total box office collection Rs 377.20 crore.
Sunny Deol’s representative had said after the e-auction notice was issued that the actor was in the process of resolving the issue with the bank.
The Bank had kept a reserve price of Rs 51.43 crore for the auction and Earnest Money Deposit for the auction was around Rs 5.14 crore.
