Arunachal Pradesh’s film on mental health wins special mention in international film fest

<p>
<strong>With mental health coming into sharp focus more so among students preparing for examinations, a director from Arunachal Pradesh has made a short film “Trauma” on this issue.</strong></p>
<p>
The film was adjudged with the Special Mention Award at the second season of the Reels International Film Festival (RIFF) in Aurangabad, Maharashtra as it illustrates the importance of mental health which is a critical ailment directly affecting emotional, psychological, social well-being. It was selected for this coveted distinction among 1,200 films from more than 46 nations that competed in the film festival.</p>
<p>
The film portrays the apprehension of a girl, who has appeared for her medical entrance examinations and is worried about the results. She is under severe mental pressure since her brother works very hard to pay money for the school and tuition fees. Stressed out, she even thinks of ending her life, in case the results are bad.</p>
<p>
Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Pema Khandu on his Twitter congratulated the filmmaker.</p>

The Short has been produced and directed by Topan Rimo Matam, who is the founder and chief executive officer of Spark Film Production.</p>
<p>
Last year on December 30, this movie had also won the 2nd runner-up award for Best Student Project Short Film Award in the Ideal International Film Festival held in Sillod, Maharashtra.</p>
<p>
Rimo, who hails from Fengche village in East Kameng district, has won multiple awards in short film competitions at the state, national and international levels.</p>
