Known for interacting with his fans regularly, seasoned actor Anupam Kher went on Instagram after a long time this week. In the post he shared an update on his wife’s health, Kirron Kher. The 65-year-old politician is fighting multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
When asked about his wife’s health, he said, "Kirron is improving. She is better but the medicines of multiple myeloma have many side effects. She is in good spirits and hopefully she will come out of it. With prayers from her well-wishers, everything will be fine."
It was on the first of this month, that Kher had revealed in an Instagram post that his wife was undergoing treatment for cancer and added that she is being looked after by a "phenomenal" set of doctors.
Intending to put the rumours going around to rest, he said: "Just so that the rumours don't get the better of a situation, Sikandar (their son) and I would like to inform everyone that my wife has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment and I am sure that she will come out of this stronger than before. We are very blessed that she is being looked after by a phenomenal set of doctors. She's always been a fighter and takes things head on.”
Anupam and Kirron got married in 1985 and her son Sikander Kher, from her previous marriage with Gautam Berry, was raised by her along with Kher.
Winner of the National Film Award – Special Jury Award for Sardari Begum in 1996 and National Film Award for Best Actress for Bariwali in 1999, Kirron entered politics in 2014 by joining the ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party. Her other notable films include Om Shanti Om, Devdas, Fanaa, Rang De Basanti andMain Hoon Na, among others.
