Amitabh Bachchan remembers the time ‘when films did 50 weeks and 100 weeks’

Going down the memory lane, popular actor Amitabh Bachchan recalled the period of 1970s, when he had nearly half a dozen releases in one year. Along with this post reminiscing about that period, he shared a throwback picture from his younger days, dressed in a white T-shirt and sporting a big chunky retro sunglasses.

His Instagram shared last night states: "The 1970'S .. and the years when films did 50 weeks and 100 weeks .. and 6-7 Of them being released in the same year .. DON , KASME VAADE, TRISHUL, MUQADDAR KA SIKANDAR, GANGA KI SAUGANDH etc and all doing more than 50 weeks .. now OTT millions make success graphs.”

Bachchan ruled the top slot for many years and was one of most sought after actors. He assumed the mantle of Superstar after Rajesh Khanna, a superstar before him, started losing in the popularity race.

Making his debut in 1969 as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen’s National Award winning film Bhuvan Shome, the first film in which he starred was K.A. Abbas’ Saat Hindustani. From then, till present, he has been an actor, film producer, television host and occasional playback singer. Regarded as one of the most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema, he was called a “one-man industry” by the French director François Truffaut.

Still going strong, the veteran actor recently announced he would be starring in the Hindi remake of the 2015 Hollywood hit The Intern, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

Also starring in the remake will be Deepika Padukone. The film is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, who helmed the 2018 comedy hit Badhaai Ho. The Hollywood hit was directed by Nancy Meyers.
