Taking a leaf from real life, a private insurance company has paid a well-deserved tribute as an advertisement to Yogita Satav, whose heroic deed of saving a driver’s life, shot her to fame. The ad, like the incident, has gone viral on social media.
Video of the ad
The actual incident took place on January 7 this year when a group of 20 women and 8 children were travelling in a mini-bus for a picnic near Pune. The driver of the vehicle on the way complained of uneasiness and fainted.
The passengers tried to revive while some women started calling on their cell phones to get help. Satav sprinkled water on the driver’s face but he did not respond. Sensing the gravity of the situation, she decided to take charge. Wasting no time, she quickly took the wheel and drove the mini-bus for the first time in her life. Initially, she was apprehensive but later she gained confidence and drove.
The homemaker, 42-year-old Satav, drove 10 kilometres to reach Surya Hospital and got the driver admitted for treatment.
After the incident, Satav sharing her experience with the media had said: "I am a civil engineering graduate. I have been driving small cars like the Maruti Celerio, accent and Omini Van since the last twenty odd years. This is the first time I tried my hands on a big vehicle like a mini-bus.”
The insurance company used the story for the short ad film. The caption of the video which is on Youtube read: "’Women can't drive’, you've heard this stereotype. It's time to unhear it. We present to you a story of a courageous woman who took the wheel in the face of adversity. A story that will empower and inspire you to #DriveLikeALady.”
