As many as 6 of the top 10 rank holders in the JEE-Advanced IIT entrance exam are from the Hyderabad zone.
IIT Hyderabad zone’s Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy has bagged the first rank in the JEE-Advanced exam, the results of which were announced on Sunday.
According to IIT Guwahati, which conducted the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Advanced this year, Reddy secured 341 out of 360 marks.
The second rank has gone to Ramesh Surya Theja (Hyderbad Zone) with Rishi Kalra (Roorkee zone) in the third position. Nayakanti Naga Bhavya Sree from IIT Hyderabad zone is the topper among females with 298 marks.
The highest number of candidates who have cleared the exam are also from IIT Hyderabad zone. Among the top 500 candidates as many as 174 are from IIT Hyderabad zone, followed by 120 from IIT Delhi zone and 103 from IIT Bombay zone.
“This year, there is less percentage of negative marking, additionally there were more questions without penalty which gave confidence to students to attempt, resulting in high cut-off this year,” news agency PTI cited an official as saying.
The Joint Seat Allocation counselling will begin from Monday.
