165 new veterinary ambulances flagged-off in Andhra Pradesh

Giving a further boost to farming and animal husbandry activities in Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister of the State, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy flagged off 165 veterinary ambulances. Purchased at a cost of Rs.111.62 crores, these ambulances will be used during the second phase of Dr.YSR Mobile Veterinary Clinic services.

With introduction of these veterinary ambulances the total number of these vehicles operating in the State has reached 340. In the first phase, 175 ambulances at a cost of Rs.129.07 crores were introduced.

So far, these ambulances have done yeomen service as they have benefitted more than 1.26 lakh herders and saved the lives of 1.80 animals.

Service of these veterinary ambulances can be availed by dialling 1962 which is a toll-free number. Every ambulance has a microscope to conduct 20 types of manure tests, 15 types of blood tests, and all types of medicines and vaccines. These have a hydraulic facility to load the cattle and doctors can perform minor surgeries in them.

Each ambulance is staffed with a veterinary doctor, a qualified assistant and a driver-cum-attender.

The State Government wants to provide at least two veterinary ambulances to each Assembly constituency to enable livestock farmers to avail of quality veterinary services at their doorstep, even to those living in remote areas
