Noman Akram, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Wing Commander, was killed when his F-16 fighter jet crashed in Islamabad Wednesday morning during routine rehearsals for the March 23 parade.
As the PAF rescue teams rushed to the crash site, dramatic video clips capturing the final moments of the jet went viral on the social media.

Akram, an experienced hand of F9 Squadron in Sargodha and considered one of the best in the PAF, had also recently flown General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
According to a PAF spokesman, a board of inquiry has been ordered to probe the cause of the accident.
“Pakistan Air Force reports with regret that a PAF F-16 aircraft crashed near Shakarparian, Islamabad during the rehearsals of 23rd March parade,” said the statement..
