<p class="p1">As part of the plan to ease traffic congestion in Hyderabad, the foundation stone was laid today for an elevated corridor to be built at a cost of over Rs 500 crore.</p>
<p class="p1">The elevated corridor from the Government Printing Press in Chanchalguda to Yadagiri Theatre is expected to ease the congestion between Nalgonda X Roads and Owaisi Hospital Junction, the stretch notorious for frequent traffic jams.</p>
<p class="p1">Being undertaken under Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), the corridor will be built at a cost of Rs 523.37 crore.</p>
<p class="p1">The elevated corridor will be passing through Chanchalguda Junction, Saidabad Junction, Dhobighat Junction and IS Sadan Junction.</p>
<p class="p1">Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner D. S. Lokesh Kumar said the corridor will come up with a length of 3.382 km, out of which the four-lane bi-directional flyover length would be 2.58 km and the remaining would be for the two side ramps.</p>
<p class="p1">Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K. T.Rama Rao laid the foundation stone for the elevated corridor in the presence of Greater Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Lokesh Kumar and other officials.</p>
<p class="p1">This is the second major project to be launched this month in the city under SRDP.</p>
<p class="p1">On July 11 the minister had foundation stone for two steel flyovers to be built at a cost of Rs 426 crore.</p>
<p class="p1">A four-lane bi-directional elevated corridor will be built from Indira Park to VST (2.610 km) at a cost of Rs 350 crore while a second level three-lane bi-directional flyover will be constructed from Ram Nagar to Baghlingampally. (0.850 km) at a cost of Rs 76 crore.</p>
<p class="p1">The SRDP works are being taken up at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore.</p>.
