American authorities have apprehended a man who entered the cockpit of a Miami-bound American Airlines plane in Honduras and damaged instruments before finally being arrested.
Flight number 488 from the Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, was delayed by more than seven hours as the passenger entered the open cockpit while boarding the plane.
A video of the incident which went viral on social media showed the man trying to get out of the cockpit moments before he was taken into custody.

"Crew members intervened and the individual was ultimately apprehended by local law enforcement. We applaud them for their professionalism in handling a difficult situation," said a statement from the airlines.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States, which investigates unruly-passenger incidents that airline crews report to the agency, had reported a total of 5,981 Unruly Passenger Reports in 2021.
