China has conceded to disengage from Galwan Valley, Gogra Hot Spots area of eastern Ladhak, and Pangong-Tso not only because of its isolation in the world but also the growing discontent within the country.
In fact, the Communist Party of China is afraid that the discontent may assume alarming proportions, top intelligence sources informed IN. The party fears an upsurge for democracy soon in the country, for the people in China are upset with the leadership over the coronavirus, sources said, adding that a repeat of the Tiananmen Square demonstration is on the cards, sooner rather than later.
Besides, pressure is also mounting on the government to declare their casualties figures in the violent Galwan Valley clashes. New Delhi did not conceal the casualties but Beijing did. India announced the death of 20 soldiers. As many as 53 Chinese soldiers have reportedly been killed in the clash.
The de-escalation plan was agreed upon by Lt General Harinder Singh, Corps Commander of 14 Corps, and Major General Liu Lin, South Xinjiang Military District Chief. This was followed by detailed interaction between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese state councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Consequently, a buffer zone has been created at Patrolling point 14 (PP-14) in the Galwan Valley region where clashes took place on June 15.
Similar Buffer Zones will be created all along the LAC.
The Chinese didn’t expect a robust and unambiguous response from India. The Chief of Defence Staff, the three defence Chiefs, and the Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Force assured Prime Minister Narinder Modi and Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh that they are well prepared to take on the Chinese along the entire India-China border and simultaneously keep our border safe from Pakistan.
All armed forces quickly mobilized troops and logistics as per the operational plans that included the movement of Army formations, Air Force fighters and surveillance aircraft, and the deployment of naval ships and submarines. The government, on its part, quickly got into the mode of sanctioning, purchasing and procuring weapons needed by the forces.
Indian Navy's fast patrol boats with gun mounts were procured and transported from Mumbai on C-17 transport plane for defence of Pangong Tso to match Chinese patrol boats. The Daulat Beg Oldie Air Force base for Siachin was made fully operational for our fighter planes Sukhoi, Su-30 MKI, Mirage-2000 and soon to be added Rafale multirole fighter aircraft with latest missiles and nuclear head.
They can easily operate from this base deep into China. This ensures our Air superiority at high altitudes. We have Spice-2000 missiles and Barak 8 missiles imported from Israel (which is state-of-the-art and can destroy enemy missiles in the air and all targets within 500 km). S-400 missiles soon be arriving from Russia.
The infantry and artillery are fully equipped with latest weapons and guns. Bofors guns have been deployed on border heights. Transport by road of men and materials has been improved for quick and smooth movement. Swift and effective mobilization seemed to have sobered Chinese aggression.
China is also witnessing increasing military presence in the South China Sea of the countries which are not exactly friendly. It wants full control here because nearly three trillion-dollar trade passes through this sea in a year. It claims 90 per cent of South China Sea, whereas Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam also lay claim on it.
To send a clear message to China that it cannot lay full claim on it, America has deployed two nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, USS Nimitz and USS Ronald Reagan, in these waters. Japan, which had almost captured China in Second World War, has also raised its deployment around Senkaku Island near South China Sea and cancelled Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Japan.
On its part, India has gone on a fast track by creating a theatre command and basing additional military forces at strategically-located Andaman & Nicobar Archipelago as an effective counter to China's maritime expansion. We can choke China’ major oil supplies which pass through these islands.
After its initial bluff and bluster, CCP bosses seem to have recognized geopolitical and strategic realities—along with the pent-up anger against their repressive and inhuman policies at home..
