In a fresh alert notice for its citizens stuck in Kabul, the United States diplomatic mission in Afghanistan has warned today that it cannot ensure a safe passage for them to the Hamid Karzai International Airport for evacuation.

"U.S. government-provided flights are departing Kabul and will continue until the evacuation operation is complete. U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (LPRs), and their spouses and unmarried children (under age 21) should consider travelling to Hamid Karzai International Airport when you judge it is safe to do so. The U.S. government cannot ensure safe passage to the airport," the advisory mentioned.

It warned its citizens to be aware of the potential for violence and security threats associated with large crowds at the airport and also advised having a contingency plan in place for emergencies.  

"We are processing people at multiple gates. Due to large crowds and security concerns, gates may open or close without notice. Please use your best judgment and attempt to enter the airport at any gate that is open," the alert message detailed.

The US Embassy in Kabul asked its citizens to be aware of their surroundings at all times, especially in large crowds due to the ongoing threats in Afghanistan.

The embassy said that it continues to closely monitor events and carefully assess conditions in Afghanistan with the safety and security of US citizens overseas remaining a top priority.

It also assured of taking every available measure to assist Afghans who are at risk, particularly those who worked for or with the United States or have supported international efforts.
