Three Indian engineers working at a dam site in Afghanistan had to be rescued in an emergency air mission as the Afghan government forces have lost control over the area which has fallen into Taliban hands, according to information provided by the Indian embassy in Kabul.

The embassy has tweeted that the case of the three engineers has brought to light the fact that some Indian nationals have not paid heed to the advice of the embassy and have remained at sites where they have put themselves in mortal danger.

The India embassy has again asked all citizens to take commercial flights and return home. All Indian companies have been told categorically to remove Indian personnel from any project site. The risk of kidnapping is high. Indian employees of foreign companies have been asked to inform employers that they need to leave. All have been asked to register with the embassy.

Similarly, Indian journalists coming to Afghanistan for professional work have also been advised to be extremely careful and get in touch with security wing of the embassy before leaving home. They have been asked to make sure that they have a secure place to stay before they leave India.
