Close to 60 lakh Indians in the younger 18 to 44 years age group have been vaccinated in the inoculation drive against Covid-19 that has been ramped up from May 1 to cover all adults in the country. The total number of people in the country who have been administered shots across all age groups has now gone up to 18.44 crore as of 8 pm on Monday, according to figures released by the Health Ministry.
With as many as 6.63 lakh people under 45 years receiving their shots on Monday, the total figure for the under-45 age group category inoculated in phase 3 of the drive works out to 59.33 lakh. Rajasthan tops the list with 9 lakh people in the 18-44 years age group being vaccinated, followed by Bihar with 8 lakh. The response in Delhi has been very enthusiastic with as many as 7 lakh people in this age bracket taking the shots. Gujarat accounted for over 5 lakh vaccinations in this age group followed by Haryana with just under 5 lakh.

Experts see the positive response as a good sign as it will help to defeat the devastating coronavirus wave sweeping across the company.

6,63,329 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years received their first dose of COVID vaccine today and cumulatively 59.33 lakh across 36 States/UTs since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive. Table below shows the cumulative vaccine doses administered to 18-44 years age group till now.
