The Commonwealth Games sports complex has made Delhi’s first Covid care centre with its own oxygen plant. The dedicated supply of oxygen can be provided to 18-20 patients at the same time.
Speaking with news agency ANI, Dr Anurag Mishra, Clinical Manager at the Covid care centre, said: "The shortage of medical oxygen in Delhi is due to the supply chain of the oxygen cylinders. Setting up our own oxygen plant is a great move."
The dedicated oxygen plant has been provided by the HCL Foundation. The beds have direct oxygen connectivity with the plant.
Delhi has been grappling with severe shortage of medical oxygen in hospitals due to the soaring numbers of coronavirus patients. Shortage of oxygen has been reported from other parts of the country as well.
Hospitals in the capital have been sending out SOS messages to the government on a daily basis as scores of patients have died due to shortage of oxygen. The city reported 20,394 new Covid-19 cases and 407 deaths in the last 24-hours.
The courts too have been monitoring the supply of oxygen on a daily basis.
The Central government has directed its embassies and High Commissions to secure medical supplies urgently, including oxygen concentrators to replenish supplies. India has received oxygen-related equipment from numerous countries across the world.
