Seven Pakistan soldiers killed in two attacks in Balochistan

Seven soldiers were killed in two separate terror attacks in Pakistan's Balochistan province, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.

An ISPR statement said that terrorists targeted a vehicle of the Frontier Corps (FC) in Mach using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), claiming the lives of six Pakistan Army soldiers, reports Dawn news. In the second attack at Kech, another soldier was killed in an exchange of fire with militants.

Earlier this month, five Frontier Corps soldiers and one officer lost their lives after their vehicle was targeted with an IED near the Pakistan-Iran border.

The Baloch people have been fighting for independence from Pakistan almost since Pakistan was carved out as an Islamic nation from India.

As the world was caught up with issues related to coronavirus, the Pakistan Army quietly launched an offensive in the region.

The violence unleashed by Pakistan on the Baloch people has landed on European shores as well. Just a few weeks back the body of a Baloch journalist was found in a river in Sweden. Sajid Hussain had been reported missing for almost two months before his body was found by Swedish police.

Baloch campaigners have been raising their concerns about human rights violations and forced disappearances of people by Pakistani intelligence services before the UN and international rights bodies..
