Brazil President says ‘Dhanyavaad’ as Indian vaccines bring hope

Brazil received two million doses of Covishield vaccines from India on Friday

Brazil President Jair M Bolsonaro thanked India with a heartfelt  Dhanyavaad! धनयवाद as the Latin American nation received 2 million doses of the Pune-made Covid-19 vaccine.
 
He said Brazil feels honoured to have a great partner to overcome a global obstacle by joining efforts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his reply assured the Brazilian President that India would continue to strengthen the cooperation on healthcare.

Brazil is reeling from a second wave of Covid infections since November, with more than 1,000 daily deaths and an overall toll of more than 214,000 deaths that is next only to the USA.
 
India dispatched two million doses of Covishield vaccines to Brazil on Friday. Covishield has been developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University and is being manufactured by Serum Institute of India.

Brazilian Ambassador in Delhi, Andre Aranha Correa do Lago, has also thanked the Serum Institute for the vaccines. "Thank you Serum Institute of India for the amazing professionalism demonstrated while shipping this batch of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines to Brazil and immense appreciation for and thanks to the Government of India for their support," do Lago said in a statement.
