Yogi Cabinet approves Rs 800 crore Delhi-Noida Elevated Road project

Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved a revised budget of Rs 800 crore for the 6 km Chilla elevated road for decongesting Delhi-Noida traffic

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved a revised budget of Rs 800 crore for the 6 km Chilla elevated road to decongest traffic on the Delhi-Noida route.

The project which has been delayed due to a lack of funds will now be completed in three years and will come as a big relief t commuters who get stuck in long traffic jams during peak hours.

Once completed, the 6-lane elevated road will allow traffic from Mayur Vihar in Delhi to go directly to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway near the Mahamaya flyover providing a smoother alternative to the current Delhi-Noida link road that is heavily congested due to merging traffic from sector 14, 16 and 18.

With the approval from the UP cabinet, the PWD will now arrange its share from the Prime Minister Gati Shakti scheme, which provides special assistance to states for capital expenditures in infrastructure projects,” a senior official confirmed.

In March 2020, the Noida authority had to stop work on the project due to a financial crisis. About 10% of the work had been done on the project at the time.

Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari said, “We will resume construction in another month after completing all formalities. This resolution of the major hurdle will provide seamless commuting for thousands of commuters.”
