India captain Rohit Sharma scripted history on Friday to become the country’s first skipper to score centuries in all three formats of the game as he hammered a century against Australia on Day 2 of the first Test of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar series in Nagpur.
He has achieved the landmark feat which has eluded cricket legends Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Rohit was playing only his third Test as Indian skipper and 46th overall.
Rohit scored his maiden ODI century as India captain against Sri Lanka on December 13, 2017 in Mohali when he led the team in the absence of Virat Kohli, and remained unbeaten on 208. His first and only T20I century as Indian skipper was also against Sri Lanka in December 2017 at Indore when he scored 118.
Rohit has joined former South African cricket great Faf du Plessis the only other captain to have scored centuries in Test, ODI and T20I formats.
